The food is almost as good as you’d get back in Thailand. Of course flavors in Thailand are more intense and true to their origin, but they are still flavorful. I’m going to start with the downsides of the place: first of all, given its location, it’s a very small place so they have to do their best to accommodate their customers, which is a hard task, so it’s a bit uncomfortable to be eating with people so close to each other, specially if you don’t know them. Secondly, they can improve the attentiveness of the waiters (they served us first than the guys next to us, but they have them plates and cutlery first, but didn’t give us cutlery, so we had to ask for it). Other than that, it’s a good place to grab a taste of Asia.
The green curry was so tasty and a good level of spice, was very enjoyable and great portions. The prawns were pretty good as well. Service was good and quick. Downside is it's a bit cramped for dining in.
First time in San Francisco and arrived absolutely famished. Staying at the Royal Clift Sonesta, Thonglor was perfectly located right across the street. This little gem was A HUGE HIT! I knew I had to taste Asian food in San Fran and this did not disappoint. We had beer, papaya salad (which was to die for) pad Thai, and pineapple fried rice and it was all absolutely delicious. We were so happy this was our first meal upon arriving. Highly recommend
The food was amazing!! The best pad Thai I’ve ever had and the Tom kha soup was very flavorful! I would definitely go again and again. The staff was friendly but the restaurant was tiny and you have to sit right next to other people. Overall the food was 10/10 and soooo fresh. I hope to visit again soon.
This small eatery, despite its long wait and bustling atmosphere due to endless orders, is a place I absolutely adore. They offer a diverse array of Thai cuisine, each dish being a hidden gem that is a must-try when in SF. The Guay Tiew Lord, packed with generous amounts of shrimp, calamari, and fish cake, was particularly delightful. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish. Although I was too full to try more, I'm eager to explore several other dishes on my next visit. I'm truly curious about the flavors they offer.
The Pad Thai is pretty exceptional! Very rich in flavor and sooo saucy. I loved that it had a good balance between savory and sweet. The tofu was great, but the pork was VERY dry. Definitely get a different protein option.
I also tried the Crispy Fried Chicken Over Fried Rice, which was classic and had great textures! The fried rice was well-made and not too salty. Very simple. The chicken's breading was very crunchy and the meat was juicy. I recommend this dish if you want something simple and satisfying!
Overall, I would like to eat the food here again, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to come to this sketchy area or wait for a table in the VERY SMALL restaurant. Maybe takeout will be just as good?
We had the veg curry puffs which were good, the filling was potatoes and they came with a plum sauce which wasn't super sweet. We got the thonglor curry with tofu and substituted the jasmine rice with fried rice, both the rice and the curry were really good. We were pleasantly surprised with the quantity as well.
Delicious Thai food. It’s a very small but very busy dining spot which you understand as soon as you eat the excellent food. We tried the Thai green curry and noodles with green beans, peppers and basil. The green curry was excellent, the noodles were alright. Must go for a delicious hot meal.
